Introduction
The Oberoi Group of Hotels offers STEP exams, also known as Systematic Training and Education Programme, to students who want to pursue a career in hotel management.
The entrance is conducted for admissions into different Oberoi Grouphotels around the country.
STEP is a 3 year program that offers practical training at a hotel of The Oberoi Group.
Each student receives a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Group and a BTS (Bachelor of Tourism Studies) degree from IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) upon completion of the programme. The Entrance is conducted once every year
Conducting Body: In order to choose applicants for admission to its Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) programme, The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD) of The Oberoi Group of Hotels conducts interviews.

There are three programmes offered under STEP they’re listed below:
(a) Hotel Operations Programme – Front Office and Food & Beverage Service
(b) Hotel Operations Programme – Housekeeping
(c) Hotel Operations Programme – Kitchen

Age Limit
- The age of the candidates must be between 18 to 20 years.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have qualified 10+2 from any board recognized by IGNOU.

Interview
There is no written exam; instead, admissions are made only through interviews. There are three rounds to the interview process:
Round 1: In this round, students are split up into groups of 15 to 20 students each, and they are instructed to attempt several questionnaires. Students are also required to complete a variety of tasks. Candidates are judged based on criteria like grooming, poise, and spoken English.
Round 2: When Round 1 is qualified candidates are invited to the second round, where they will be individually interviewed by a panel of faculty members. Candidates are judged on their personalities and behavior, as well as their aptitude for hospitality.
Round 3 – After passing both rounds, candidates are chosen for the last round, or Round 3, in which they are asked again to attempt some questionnaires and perform activities. This phase involves another interview conducted in front of a panel. The third round is held in a different city and day from the first and second rounds. Evaluation criteria for candidates include personality, behavior, knowledge, and skills.
General Guidelines
- On the day you have selected for interview, come to the location of the selection process.
- The following documents, including self-attested copies of each, must be brought by the applicant on the day of the interview:-
- One printed copy of the applicant’s application form and one passport-size photo.
- A single copy of their class X certification. One copy of the candidate’s birth certificate will be needed if their certificate does not include their date of birth
- A single copy of their class XII certificate.
